Getting started
Set up your phone
A short setup asks for the permissions that make Pebla useful. You can say Not Now to any of them.
- Contacts: pay friends in one tap, no typing numbers.
- Location: see nearby businesses that accept Pebla.
- Notifications: confirmations, reminders and summaries.
- SMS (Android): Pebla reads only your M-Money messages to track what you send and receive.
- Add to Home Screen: a floating guide helps you put Pebla in your dock next to Phone.
- Pebla widget: Pay, Split and Specials right on your Home Screen.
Paying
Send money
- Open the Pay tab and type the amount on the keypad. Tap Next.
- Pick a frequent contact, a favourite, a contact, or type a number or merchant code.
- Choose a tag (for example Groceries or Friends & Family) and add a note if you like. Tap Confirm.
- Pebla opens your phone’s dialer with the right USSD. Enter your PIN in the network’s prompt to finish.
If you paid the same amount to the same number recently, Pebla asks first: Replace Previous, New Transaction or Cancel.
Scan to pay
Tap the QR icon on Quick Pay to scan a merchant QR. On Android you can also switch to Text Scan to capture a printed MoMo number.
Dual SIM
On a dual-SIM phone, tap the SIM chip on Home to choose which SIM makes payments. Auto uses the SIM your MoMo messages arrive on.
Paying
Record payments automatically
Pebla can record whether each payment succeeded, failed or was cancelled, so you don’t have to tap Done.
Android
On the Payment screen, tap Turn on, agree, then turn on Pebla payment tracking in your phone’s settings. Pebla reads the MoMo pop-up only during a payment you started.
iPhone
Set up one Shortcuts automation, once. It takes about 2 minutes:
- Open the Shortcuts app and tap Automation, then New Automation.
- Choose Message. Set Message Contains to
RWFand leave Sender empty. - Select Run Immediately, tap Next, then New Blank Automation.
- Tap Add Action, search “Pebla” and choose Record Mobile Money Message.
- Make sure it reads “Record Shortcut Input in Pebla”, then tap Done.
Every MoMo SMS now goes to Pebla, even when the app is closed.
Splitting
Split a bill
- Tap Split on Home. Add people by number or from your contacts. Add me includes your own share.
- Enter the total and choose Pay to: Me (your MoMo number) or Vendor (their MoMo Pay code).
- Split equally, or choose Custom and type each person’s amount.
- Pick how to collect: QR Code Split (show each person their own QR) or Send payment links.
Splitting
Split a receipt
- On the Split screen, tap Split a receipt instead, then take a photo or upload one.
- Pebla reads the items, quantities, VAT, service charge and total, and prints them back for you to check.
- Tap Edit to fix anything. Pebla flags items with no price and possible duplicates.
- Choose where the money goes and tap Confirm split.
- Share the QR or link. Friends tick what they had and pay their share. No app needed on their side.
Payments go straight to your number, so mark people as paid when their MoMo message arrives. Links stay live for 14 days. Receipt scan is a Level 2 Pebla perk (see Pebla perks).

History groups your payments by day. Filter by type, search by name, number or tag, and swipe a row to pay again, hide it or delete it. Hidden items live under More → Hidden transactions.
Spend Insights shows a breakdown by category for this week, this month, last month or a custom range.
Statements (Settings) summarises each month and exports it as PDF or CSV. It’s a summary of your Pebla activity, not an official MoMo statement.
Your account
